Environmental Considerations
Stanton Andrews Architects ensure that environmental considerations are fully incorporated in their designs from first principles. Their approach optimises building orientation to maximise solar gain opportunities. Their buildings are “super insulated” and triple glazing is often used for windows and external doors.
Heating your Home
In these cold winter months, properly heating your home becomes a pressing issue, particularly with the cost of heating looking to rise even further.
Heating your home using fossil fuels can produce greenhouse gases and noticeably contributes to your carbon footprint. Government figures suggest that up to 20% of the country’s greenhouse gas emissions come from heating and two thirds of which comes from residential buildings.
Stanton Andrews Architects have been incorporating renewable energy systems into their designs for nearly 20 years. They have frequently used ground source, air source and also taken lake source heat pumps to warm their buildings. These pumps can produce up to 4.5 times as much energy as they use and whilst they still need electricity to run this can also be carefully environmentally sourced.
