The Journey

Our clients challenged us to bring to life an old barn building. Despite its state of neglect we could see the barn had a lot of potential. It stood isolated in a fantastic position in the heart of the Ribble Valley amidst fields and rolling hills.

We undertook a feasibility exercise to look at the existing layout and the topography of the site, before moving onto creating concepts for what the barn could be, and to take its bones into the new design.

The images above illustrate the journey to to the fantastic finished building. The “wagon door” remains as a wide glazed entrance, the barn is a celebration of stone and is mostly open plan on the ground floor with 4 first floor bedrooms.

The clients are really pleased with their new home and especially enjoy their wine cellar which has been cleverly housed in the floor of the open plan area.
