Living on the Waters’ Edge!

This development has a great setting overlooking Pendle Water and Barrowford Park. One of the challenges we encountered was building a house to survive being on a known flood plain.  There were planning restrictions to this site, which has meant that it was slow to be picked up and built on. It was requested that a 5 metre easement be allowed and that the units be no more than 2 storeys high and added to that the site was awkward and triangular.

We gave the ex garage site some careful consideration and designed development of six 4-bed townhouses was proposed each with river views and rear gardens. The units are conceived as two interlocking elements; the base and rear element is 2 stories high and clad in stone as it faces the town and is robust enough to withstand the effects of flooding. The river element is 2 stories high clad in timber with the top storey within the loft space.
