Contemporary Update to Farmhouse

Model of architect drawings

Planning Permission received for an update to this old farmhouse.

The original farmhouse dates back to the 18th Century but over the years a number of small extensions has created a mishmash of roofs. The house is in an isolated position with good views over the surrounding area.

By using computer modelling Stanton Andrews Architects was able to explore different concepts with the clients to find the appropriate design for the house. The double height ceiling over the entrance hall and kitchen/dining space brings a sense of new grandeur to this old house; and by reorganising the layout to create open plan areas that orient to the new south facing garden the whole ground floor has a light and airy feel.

A new master bedroom at first floor makes the most of the views down the valley, and the other bedrooms benefit from new en suite bathrooms.

A new parking area away from the house allows for softer landscaping around the house.
